

| Spanish majors and minors participate in service learning opportunities, such as volunteering at an orphanage or eye clinic (Morelia, Mexico) or a health clinic (El Salvador) |

| Students can earn credit in internships by serving the Latino community as activists, interpreters, and tutors. While in Morelia, students volunteer in orphanages, day care centers, and senior citizen centers. |

| Students build life-long friendships with classmates and faculty at a Spanish retreat in Michigan |

| Members of the Colonial Latin American Literature class visit the Newberry Library, home of the Popol Vuh and other ancient texts. Students also have many other off-campus cultural opportunities in the city -- many Latino neighborhoods, museums, restaurants, and events. |

| Students can attend the Chicago Latino Film Festival. Several films are shown on the North Park campus. |

| North Park students are inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor society. The ceremony is held every May. |
