Spanish majors and minors participate in service learning opportunities, such as volunteering at an orphanage or eye clinic (Morelia, Mexico) or a health clinic (El Salvador)

Students can earn credit in internships by serving the Latino community as activists, interpreters, and tutors.  While in Morelia, students volunteer in orphanages, day care centers, and senior citizen centers.

Students build life-long friendships with classmates and faculty at a Spanish retreat in Michigan

Members of the Colonial Latin American Literature class visit the Newberry Library, home of the Popol Vuh and other ancient texts.

Students also have many other off-campus cultural opportunities in the city -- many Latino neighborhoods, museums, restaurants, and events.

Students can attend the Chicago Latino Film Festival.  Several films are shown on the North Park campus.

North Park students are inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the National Spanish Honor society.  The ceremony is held every May.
